About the Experience

You’ve seen the TV show, now immerse yourself in the ancient art of Blade Smithing. We invite you to discover this rich heritage and traditional craft as you embark on a skilful and masterful course in our traditional coal forge.

Guided by experienced artisans, you will embark on a hands-on adventure, forging your own Viking-style knife from raw knife steel to a finely honed blade. The style of knife is based on an actual find from 1st Century Denmark and can be made to be suitable for bushcraft or cooking.

Under the watchful eyes of our expert instructors, you will master the delicate balance of fire, hammer, and anvil, honing your skills with each precise strike. Experience the thrill of shaping red-hot steel, channelling the spirit of the ancient Norse warriors into every twist and curve of your blade. Then you will proceed to learn the secrets of accurately heat treating your knife before carefully tempering the steel for durability before leaving the course with not only a magnificent Viking-style knife but also a profound appreciation for the skilful mastery required to bring such a blade to life.
