About the Experience

Make a Copper & Steel Coffee Scoop

New for Autumn 2026, step into the Now Strike Forge for a unique hands-on blacksmith experience that brings together two historic metalworking crafts.

Begin by forging your own steel handle using traditional blacksmithing techniques. Under expert tuition from an experienced smith, you’ll shape hot steel into an elegant, functional handle, adding decorative twists before punching the rivet holes and applying a rich blackened finish.

The second half of the session introduces the fascinating craft of copper smithing. You’ll learn how to anneal copper to soften it before transforming a simple copper disc into a beautifully formed scoop complete with texture and a natural shine. Through careful, controlled hammering, you’ll gradually raise the bowl while simultaneously work-hardening the metal to make it sturdy for future use.

To finish, you’ll polish the copper to a warm shine before hand-riveting it to your forged steel handle.

At the end of the experience, you’ll take home a stunning handcrafted coffee scoop, combining the warm glow of copper with the character of forged steel—a beautiful and practical piece you’ll be proud to use for years to come.
